Welcome to the practice of Koula Charalambous-Metzner
Individual Counseling
Counseling is a process that involves the development of a confidential, professional relationship between the therapist and the individual that focuses on the clients’ personal issues. It can help you identify your strengths, gain insight into your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and begin a process of change, healing and growth.
It can be difficult to begin counseling due to fears, stigmas, or even feelings of embarrassment. But most people find that once they begin, they feel some relief and hope because they begin facing their difficulties and working through them, instead of avoiding them.
Issues that can be addressed (this list is of examples, and not exhaustive):
- Depression
- Loneliness
- Anxiety, fears
- Panic
- High stress levels
- Relationship issues
- Expatriate adjustment issues
- Grief and loss
- Personal growth
- Emotional conflict
- Low self esteem
- Blocked creativity
- Career indecision or re-evaluating professional goals
- Sleep disturbance (sleeping too much or too little)
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy, also known as marriage counseling, brings couples or partners together for joint therapy sessions. Working with a therapist, you learn skills to work on your relationship. These skills might include communicating openly, solving problems together and discussing differences calmly and rationally. You analyze both the good and bad parts of your relationship as you pinpoint and better understand the sources of your conflicts.
Skype Sessions
I offer Skype sessions. If you are interested, please contact me to discuss this option.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss the possibility of therapy for you, or to set up an initial appointment.
